3 Shower Safety Tips For Seniors In Los Alamitos

Did you know that part of aging gracefully means understanding that things in your home need to be used differently than they were when you were younger?

At A-1 Home Care, we provide elder care tips for seniors from all walks of life, including Jewish, Middle Eastern, Asian, and European, and are proud to serve seniors throughout Los Angeles and Orange County with exceptional in-home care services.

Take a look below at 3 of A-1 Home Care's senior care tips when it comes to using the shower:

1. Invest In A Shower Mat. Getting a shower mat for the tub reduces the risk for falls caused by the slippery tile surfaces against running water that occurs while you shower. Even if you still have reflexes like a cat, getting a shower mat is where it's at!

2. Install Rails. Having hand rails on the side of the shower are great for an emergency tumble while you're rubba-dub-dubbing. You can grab them instinctively before you fall, or at least try to catch them along your arms to lessen the impact of a scary tub tumble.

3. Look Into A Shower Seat. Maybe you don't need to purchase one right now, but at least know what's out there so that if and when the time comes when it will be safest to bathe while sitting, you'll know what to expect in terms of price range and installation process(es).
